What’s in a Smoothie?
There is waaay more detail in creating a great website than most normal humans care to know. (That’s OK, we’re not exactly normal. We thrive on this stuff.) But you surely want to know what the Smoothie will do for you, so here’s all the finer details.
The design & branding
- All the great work we’ll put into your design will be kept safe while you go crazy updating content. So you can have the best of both worlds: a site you can update yourself without it looking like you built it yourself.
- Your choice of several home page layouts. Your home page can have several editable areas, be one clean page without distractions (like the homepage on this site), or be a blog.
What magic you, your Smoothie & WordPress can do together!
- Rich content control. Upload photos, documents and other files. Show YouTube videos.
- Automatic “lightbox” effect on uploaded images. Upload a photo into your page, and WordPress will create a smaller web-friendly size. People will be able to click it for a larger view in “lightbox” mode. You can see this in action in our Smoothie Gallery images.
- Easy editing of your “sidebar” (narrow column) using widgets. Drag in mini content blocks, lists of recent posts, recent comments, tag clouds, etc.
- Full menu control. Choose which pages to list in your site’s navigation, and order them with easy drag-n-drop menu editing. You won’t have to wait for a web geek to add new items to your navigation.
- Drop-down menus in your website’s main navigation automatically created based on the structure of your content and the pages you choose to include in the menus.
- Create branded sales or “landing” pages using one of our multiple page templates. You’ll have the convenience of maintaining all your content in one place without every page looking like it’s part of a blog. And because you have full menu control, you don’t have to list these pages in your menus unless you want to.
- Expandable pages – Create a page with expandable blocks of content: great for FAQ, service lists and more. Have a look at our FAQ page for an example.
- We’ll install Google Analytics: see where in the world your site visitors are coming from, what they searched on to get there, and more.
Then there’s the stuff you’ll be glad not to worry about
- Automated, scheduled backups of your database (that’s where WordPress stores all of your important content).
- Spam reduction tactics.
- You’ll enjoy reduced chance of spammers collecting your email address from your website. We’ll install a contact form and an e-mail scrambler so you can display email addresses on your site content in a way spammers have a harder time harvesting.
- We’ll also install a plug-in to reduce the chances of spammers comment-blasting your site.
